Ambassador of the Reading Glasses Initiative, commenced by Rotarian Christopher Jones of AUT Local 113. In doing so, our Club has been able to contribute to the collection of gently used, and new reading glasses for marginalized communities in the Philippines. The first shipment of reading glasses was well received in Makati, Philippines, and we plan to continue this project into the spring/summer of 2024. (Jan-May 2024).

 - Care Packages for Christmas initiative, in which we were graciously supported by Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Willowdale and the Toronto-Earlscourt Rotary Club; our members greatly bonded while assembling 60+ care packages, all of which were delivered to Eva's Place Emergency Shelter for Youth. (Dec 2023).

Halloween for Hunger, in which our team of young professionals raised funds and contributed to the 50+ non-perishable goods donated to the North York Harvest Food Bank, via Toronto Fire Station 111. (Oct 2023)

- Bottle Drive for North York General Hospital. With the support of our Sponsor Club'(s) the Rotary Club of Willowdale and the Rotary Club of North York, we were able to collect and deliver hundreds of empties for this meaningful project. As a result, our summer bottle drive was able to contribute to the total sum of $1,764.50 that the NYGH project raised. (June-Sept 2023).
Rotaract Club of Willowdale was very happy to join again the Rotary Club of Willowdale in an outside event in July, 2021. We would like to thank Heather and David for hosting such a great event, and for making us feel close to a normal service club again in the company of our fellow members. It was Awesome!

Our Rotaract Club of Willowdale worked hard together with JF Charity on the annual Food and Hygiene Drive for the homeless in Toronto.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our members are not able to directly offer the care packages as usual.
Instead, we will deliver these on November 28th, 2020 to the Adelaide Resource Centre for Women for distribution.
Job well done Rotaract members and JF Charity for still being able to gather 150 care packages, despite the trial times we are living in.

The Rotaract Club of Willowdale has teamed up with Initiative PPE

ABOUT: Initiative EPI is an awareness campaign to fight COVID-19 in Africa and the Caribbean, and to support healthcare and front-line professionals in need of personal protective equipment.

WHO WE ARE: The Initiative was created by a team of professionals and entrepreneurs with backgrounds from various countries: Algeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, Ghana, Guyana, Morocco, Senegal & Uganda.

They decided to unite to fight the spread of COVID-19 in Africa and the Caribbean.

WHAT WE DO: Our goal is to support healthcare and front-line professionals in African and Caribbean countries by providing them with gloves, gowns, masks and eye protections.

We are aiming at supporting countries like Algeria, Burkina Faso, Guyana, Nigeria, Congo DRC, Senegal, etc.

NEXT STEPS: By August 10th, we will be sending personal protective equipment to Senegal.

We are also working with the Centre Hospitalier Gratuit de Tessert in Haiti to send surgical masks, gloves, gowns and hand sanitizers by end of August. Date will be confirmed.

Do not miss out on a great opportunity to help your community of North York.
Bring your empty bottles and cans of beer, wine, and yes champagne too to
the Grand Luxe Event Boutique on September 26th, 2020.
We will be collecting bottles on the event day, in addition to picking up your bottles prior to the event!
